Framing Process

Hand finished 23k gold leaf frame by Brad Sourdiffe created for Edouard Manet's "Le Saumon". Collection of the Shelburne MuseumCustom framing at Furchgott Sourdiffe Gallery means experienced service and attention to detail that is rarely found in today’s mass-market, franchised environment. We offer extensive design services combined with expert craftsmanship and dedicated customer service. Archival materials and techniques are used to guarantee preservation of your artwork.

Whether your piece is a child’s first drawing or an original Manet, a cross-stitch or an arrowhead collection, we treat every item with special care. Besides a unique selection of mouldings that offer unusual choices for every budget, we have our own finishing department. This enables us to create our own hand-crafted gilded and natural wood frames, to fashion elegant finish-cornered frames, customized to match your artwork. We can also make multi-sided frames in special shapes to suit unusual objects such as fans.

We specialize in beautiful, customized french mats, which range from a single, elegant hand-drawn ink line to elaborate mats utilizing marbleized and gilded papers and wash panels. Deep beveled 8 ply mats and hand covered fabric mats, with hundreds of materials to choose from, add to the choices that make your framing truly custom.
