Missing Touch

October 16th – November 28th, 2020

‘Missing Touch’ features the work of Beth Pearson along with Annelein Beukenkamp, Leslie Fry, and Betsey Garand. Pearson moved away from her home state of Vermont several years ago. The exhibit is a chance to see recent works by the abstract artist whose approach comes across as both playful and finely developed. As Pearson states, “Painting had filled a communication gap for me long before the pandemic hit but with the option for diverse human contact all but completely removed by COVID it became even more a necessity to keep my studio life active. It is a different type of communication I have with painting than I do with another human being but it can be a metaphor for friendship somehow.”

With a lack of touch between each other, our intimate moments with nature and wildlife hold increased impact. Betsey Garand & Annelein Beukenkamp both offer works with perspective on the life of a garden or microcosm- exposing the relationships within.

Leslie Fry has multiple works that use the hand and its gestures as building blocks to a new entity. But in ‘Wistful Portrait’, there is the simple example of how one hand can hold the other hand to recreate the missing comfort of touch.

Here is a virtual tour but we do encourage you to come visit the gallery and have a tangible experience with the art!

Along with the work included in the exhibit is a special sale from a collection of unique prints and watercolors by Garand that price from $50 to $100 with the goal of offering accessibility to collectors of limited means.
