Hues of Summer: New Paintings by Bonnie Acker

July 26 – September 3, 2019

Opening Reception with the Artist July 26th 5:30 – 7:30pm

Burlington artist and social activist Bonnie Acker has created paintings of the Vermont landscape for over 30 years. Melding abstraction with a close observation of the land, she has fashioned her own distinctive oil painting style, both evocative and exuberant. Bonnie’s style has continually expanded, evolving from realistic scenes to her present-day impressions of  “…what might be out there.”

“I am inspired by Vermont’s stunning environment. Painting for me is one-hundred percent optimism. I glean images from real places and people, farm fields and waterways, pollinators and sunrises. The scenes I paint remind me of the efforts being made here in Vermont — and beyond — to improve life as we know it.  The beauty from this summer season, salted-away, sustains me year-round. May all of us continue to believe — in whatever we are doing — that someday life might be safe and secure and meaningful for all. There is more and more room in these newest paintings for viewers to feel connected and uplifted.”
