The gallery is pleased to announce the opening of “Running the Gamet: From Realism to Abstraction”, a group show featuring the paintings of Daniel Gottsegen and 15 other artists. Included in the exhibit is work by Susan Abbott, Bonnie Baird, Annelein Beukenkamp, Jeri Lynn Eisenberg, Kevin Fahey, Betsey Garand, Philip Hagopian, Kathleen Kolb, Ken Rush, HM Saffer, Gail Salzman, Cameron Schmitz, David Smith, Shiao-Ping Wang, and Joyce Zavorskas.
Daniel Gottsegen resides in Woodstock, VT. His work is based on an intimate observation of the natural world, derived partly from many extensive solitary hikes over the years. “The act of painting is for me much like the wandering and seeking I have done in the natural world. Bits of imagery, often rising from deep within my memory, circulate in my paintings, as I find harmonies and relationships that reveal to me beauty and truth… I am interested in painting that is luminous. Painting, seeking, and wandering in the wild are all of a piece. For me painting is a process of searching and an act of revelation. It is a physical, improvisatory practice.”
