Annelein Beukenkamp

“My watercolors and approach to painting are constantly evolving. I truly enjoy the beautiful way the pigments mingle and interact on the crisp white paper. Watercolor is the spontaneous medium I try to control while harnessing the pigment’s power into a colorful painting.

My work has been exhibited extensively across the state and beyond in various juried, invitational, group and solo shows and have garnered several awards. Selected shows have included: The Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors, The Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, The Shanghai Zhujiajiao International Watercolour Biennial Exhibition, The New England Watercolor Society National juried show, Envisioned in a Pastoral setting, Shelburne Farms, the National Fall exhibition at the Southern Vermont Arts Center and Art in the Round Barn, Waitsfield. My work has been featured in the popular watercolor books Splash 14 and 15. I am a Signature member of several Watercolor Societies and teach numerous painting workshops.

My favorite subject matter continues to be those ever colorful and varied flowers. They take well to the medium and allow me to stretch my palette to its fullest capacity. I strive to capture a blooms’ “essence,” not its exact reproduction. I think the reason I enjoy painting all those blossoms stems from my childhood in the Netherlands, driving by field after field of explosive color on the way to my grandmother’s house.

My work has evolved to include figures, portraits, roosters and still lifes. My watercolors are represented at various galleries and I also have limited edition, signed and numbered Giclee prints available. My paintings are currently being licensed and reproduced on a myriad of products such as tiles, puzzles, fabric, gift bags, greeting cards and more. My watercolors are in private and corporate collections across the globe.
